ERNAKULAM BRANCH OF SIRC of ICAI
Ernakulam Branch of SIRC of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India established on 1st December 1967, the branch has its own premises in Diwan’s Road, Ernakulam, the first branch in India have its own premises. The Third largest branch in South India, it has about 1500 Chartered Accountants as its members and over 3000 CA Students pursuing studies at different stages. The branch is recognized to be one of the most prominent and active branches under the Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) of the Institute. The branch offers excellent opportunities for the students, with regular coaching classes arranged for -Common Proficiency Test, Professional Competence Course Integrated Professional Competency Course and Final Examination . Classes are handled by experienced and expert Faculty consisting of Chartered Accountants, Lawyers & Professors.  The branch has maintained an excellent success rate in the Institute’s Exams over the years.  The First Branch in Kerala to receive Accreditation for conducting 250 hrs Compulsory Computer Training (C.C.T.P) / Information Technology Training( I.T.T) .The branch has a very active wing of SICASA (Southern India Chartered Accountants Students’ Association) . Seminars / Workshops / Talks and such value addition programmes are conducted every month by SICASA. It has also organized various National and Regional Conferences.  Sports & Games, Cultural Competitions, Picnics etc are conducted annually as extra curricular activities.  Ernakulam being one of the Decentralised branches under SIRC, facilities are available at the branch to register for Common Proficiency Test (CPT – CA Entrance Exam) and IPCC, to avail and submit application forms for IPCC and Final exams and other student services.
 
COURSES RUN IN THE BRANCH
Common Proficiency Test (CPT)
Common Proficiency Test is an entry level examination for admission to the Chartered Accountancy Course. A 10th Passed student can register for CPT Course by filling in the prescribed registration form along with the requisite fee. A student who has passed higher qualifications than 10th class such as B.Com, M.Com, LL.B., ICWA, CS, MBA is also, in the first instance, to appear and pass CPT Examination to join the Chartered Accountancy Course. CPT Examination is objective type test comprising of 4 subjects which are: - (a) Fundamentals of Accounting – 60 marks, (b) Mercantile Laws – 40 marks, (c) General Economics – 50 marks and (d) Quantitative Aptitude - 50 marks.
Duration : 5 Months
 
Professional Competency Course (PCC)
The course (PCC) is taken by all trainees during their post-diploma traineeship. It consists of 36 hours of core modules and 18 hours of elective modules and is a skills based course which consolidates and builds on what trainees do in their traineeships.
Duration : 10 Months
 
CA FINAL (FINAL)
Final New Course
Duration : 4.6 Months
 
General Management and Communication Skills (GMCS)
A compulsory course for the newly qualified CA s and the students in the final lap of their CA studies. Registration for the course can be done well in advance. There will be about 07 batches every year. Normally starts a couple of weeks after the examinations in May and November. It is a well organized course on soft skills and tips on management practices giving a finishing touch to the career preparators of a CA student. Classes are handled by experts in respective areas and the participants are from all over Kerala and the adjacent States. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) conducts Campus Placement Programmes twice an year in various parts of the country, including Ernakulam Branch
Duration : 15 Days
 
Information Technology Training (ITT)
100 hours course for a duration of 20 days starts in the first week of every month. There are two batches a month. The morning batch is from 7 a.m. to 12 Noon and the afternoon batch from 12.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Registration can be done 2 months prior to the course. The intake capacity in a batch is 24. The newly furnished Computer Lab is getting fully air.
Duration : 100 Hours
 
Integrated Professional Competency Course (IPCC)
AS per the new scheme, a CPT passed student can join IPCC without Article registration and can sit in the new IPPC Exam after 9 months of registration. Only a passing group-1 of IPCC, a sudent shall eligible to registred with articles which shall now be for a period of 3 years.
